Stretching at UGA

Is stretching the key to success at UGA?

Athens, Ga. — The new University of Georgia strength and conditioning coach, Mark Hocke, has been increasing the amount of stretching and limbering exercises for his players during training. The flexibility training is in addition to traditional weightlifting exercises performed during conditioning in the off-season, but already players and coaches are starting to notice a difference.

Flexibility training helps large, muscular players to remain limber while reducing their chances of injury.  In addition to injury prevention, the flexibility training has helped UGA football players to move faster and develop quicker reaction times.
